What is Strategy

 Defining Strategy

Strategy is an Action one takes to generate a desired Reaction (an outcome or objective).
The concept of strategy: Strategy is an action taken that generates a desired or planed reaction. Not all actions, however generate a desired reaction. Some outcomes are unintended for and unanticipated. However, it is an ongoing process of action, measurement of outcome, analyses, adjustment, and action again.

The conceptual basis of strategy is the interface between human interactions and surrounding environment. Most human actions are subject to reaction, by either another human action or environmental circumstances, which cause an undesired (or wanted) reaction. Therefore, a constant measurement and adjustment is needed to achieve the desired reaction (objective/outcome) It is a process, an ongoing process.

This is true even when the desired outcome obtained at first attempt. The reason for constant monitoring, measurement and adjustment is that everything is in constant motion in the surrounding environment, which causes inevitable changes to outcomes overtime.

Hence, actions are ought to be constantly reevaluated, and done differently according to changing circumstances. This is not to say that objectives are not to be revisited. In fact, objectives should be constantly measured and adjusted according to the new priorities of the organisation and circumstances. Failing to reevaluate objectives and adjust actions to generate the desired reaction will lead inevitably to failure.
